INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE

21st September, 2006
Dear Sir/Madam
Greetings from Diocese of Agra, U.P. & U.A.C.C., Y.M.C.A, and D.B.S.S.
World Council of Churches every year observes 21st September as International Day of Prayer for Peace. The Council encourages all people to support this day. United Nations had also formally adopted this day as International Day of Prayer for Peace.
When the world today is at war in so many places, the forces of violence, war and oppression seem to be increasing and praying for peace may seems to be a futile exercise. Yet we all believe in the power and in the promise of peace given by the Lord Jesus Christ.
To support this noble cause Diocese of Agra ,Uttar Pradesh & Uttranchal Council of Churches, Young Men Christian Association, Agra and Diocesan Board of Social Service, Agra have jointly decided to observe this day. We jointly call all of you to walk with those oppressed by violence and to act in solidarity with those struggling for justice, peace and the integrity of creation.
To transform words into action we have decided to assemble at SHAHEED SMARAK , Sanjay Place, Agra on 21st September 2006, at 6:00 P.M. to show our solidarity towards human kind. We all together will pray for peace in this world.
You are requested to kindly attend the occasion of Prayer for Peace. Your presence will be highly appreciated.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
The Revd.P.P.Habil
Secretary
Diocese of Agra
Bishop’s Commissary
Prof. S. K. Warne
